Mental Health First Aid Training in Santa Maria
Mental Health First Aid Training
Mental Health Association in Santa Barbara County

The Mental Health Association in Santa Barbara is providing the community with a groundbreaking public education program – Mental Health First Aid – to help the public identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illness and substance use disorders. An interactive 12-hour course, Mental Health First Aid training provides a layperson with the knowledge they need to assist someone experiencing a mental health crisis until appropriate professional help arrives.

Successful participants of the three-course program are certified as Mental Health First Aiders for three years and learn a 5-step action plan encompassing the skills, resources and knowledge to help an individual in crisis connect with appropriate professional, peer, social and self-help care.

Three-course series:
• Wednesday, April 27th
12-4 p.m.
• Wednesday, May 4th
12-4 p.m.
• Wednesday, May 11th
12-4 p.m.

Location: Santa Maria Food Bank, 490 West Foster Rd. in Santa Maria
Course cost: $45 (25 person maximum per three-series course)
Register early as past courses have filled up quickly.
